MieterHilfe (Tenants Assistance) is the City of Vienna’s advisory centre for all questions and legal issues related to housing, offering consultation and support to all Viennese citizens. Regardless of whether you have questions concerning excessively high rents, construction defects, or other problems with your landlord: MieterHilfe provides free, thorough, and professional advice.

On our website, you can find sample letters on legal issues, calculators to help you check your rent, utility bills, and one-off payments, case studies, and valuable advice on everything related to rent.
MieterHilfe provides telephone advice from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. In-person advice is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 9 am and 5 pm, as well as on Wednesdays between 9 am and 1 pm.

In light of the complexity of the legal issues in question, we can only offer consultations in German. Should you need advice in any other language, you are welcome to bring someone, e.g. an interpreter, to accompany you to an appointment.
